We grow 400 hectares of seed each year, across East Anglia, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, supplying both UK consumption and processing growers with reliable, high quality seed.

Scale & Performance

  • Approx. 400 ha of seed grown annually
  • 15,000 tonnes of production each year
  • Performance varies by contract and variety, with a focus on maximising saleable yield

Recent seasons have shown strong improvement in drought resilience and virus control through smarter variety choice, land selection, and better integrated crop management.

Consistency of Supply

We ensure consistent, high-grade seed through:

  • Use of clean, virus‑tested input seed (≈60% of stocks tested annually)
  • Weekly rouging of early-generation crops
  • Frequent storage inspections
  • Strong communication between field teams, agronomy, and customers

This commitment has led to substantial improvements in virus levels across both Northumberland and East Anglia.

Varieties & Innovation

We grow around 65 different varieties and manage over 190 individual stocks.

In East Anglia, we typically grow eight key varieties selected for their performance on unirrigated land—especially important for drought‑tolerant processing crops and in Northumberland, we grow over 50 seed varieties.

We continually trial new genetics, focusing on:

    • Drought tolerance
    • PCN resistance
    • Virus resistance
    • Emerging precision‑bred varieties

A recent success story includes SH C 1010, a fast‑growing crisping variety that is becoming very popular with growers and customers.
